I took this photo of the old Kennebunk Depot from the Rte 9A bridge. I think it's a gem - a place you cannot replace - a part of history. And to this day, the old station - 130 years later - basically remains the same. The station opened in 1873 - a single story clapboard structure that is typical of the B&M stations on the line. The Kennebunk and Kennebunkport Railroad opened in 1883 & went from Kennebunk to Kennebunkport, Maine. The final day of service was in 1965 -
In 2001 the Amtrak Downeaster ran between Maine & Boston but there was - and is still no stop at the old Kennebunk depot. It sits looking pretty in fall for sure. The building was listed for sale in July 2019 -
